Our Story
NIO has competed in the FIA Formula E championship since its inception in 2014. In 2015, NIO was the title sponsor for the Drivers' Championship winning team with Nelson Piquet Jr. Our team pushes performance every day. It is about the joyous pursuit of achieving the optimum in all that we do, and how we do it.
NIO returned for the 2015/16 season with a full-season campaign for Oliver Turvey, who made his Formula E debut in London. Turvey had a strong start to finish sixth but the team had a challenging season, struggling to find competitive performance. It was acknowledged that despite their best efforts they were unable to retain the Drivers' Championship crown. The 2017/18 season also presented a number of challenges but the team continued to learn a great deal about racing in Formula E whilst continuing to mature as an operational team. For season 5 they will take all of the experiences and put them to good effect to come back, bigger, stronger and push to the limit to achieve success. 2018/19 will be the fifth consecutive season of competition for the NIO Formula E Team.
